List the jobs you take, and the ones you don’t

“Handyman” covers a lot of ground, so customers need specifics. Make a list of the jobs you actually do, in plain words: drywall patches, door and lock adjustments, fixture swaps, caulking, furniture assembly, TV mounting, small carpentry. A customer who sees their exact job on the list calls. One who sees only “all your home repair needs” keeps looking.

Just as important, say what you don’t do. In Florida, many kinds of work, such as electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, roofing and structural changes, generally require a licensed contractor. Saying clearly which jobs you refer out protects you and builds trust. If you do hold a contractor license, Florida law requires the license number in your advertising, so put it on the site.

Make it easy to describe the job

Small jobs are hard to quote over the phone. Let customers send a photo of the problem with their request, and say what other details help: the room, the size and whether materials are already on hand. You will give better quotes, and you will waste fewer trips.

Say how pricing works

Handyman pricing varies widely: hourly, flat rate per job or a minimum for the first hour. Pick your approach and explain it. If you have a trip charge or minimum, say so before the customer books, not on the invoice. Many customers have a list of small jobs. If you like bundling them into one visit, invite people to send the whole list.

Show finished work

Before-and-after photos work for small jobs too: the wall before and after a patch, the sagging door now hung straight. A handful of real photos does more for a handyman site than any amount of describing. Take them as you go, and ask the customer before you post anything from inside their home.
